Royal Wedding: Style Verdict

We all recognize that Catherine Middleton has gotten her tick of approval worldwide for her choice of wedding gown designed by Alexander McQueen's creative director Sarah Burton. Popularly compared to Grace Kelly's wedding gown, Kate's version exudes modern grace and elegance, which suits Her Royal Highness Princess William Arthur Philip Louis, Duchess of Cambridge, Countess of Strathearn, Baroness Carrickfergus perfectly.

What about the others?
Learning the dress code of an elaborate English wedding is fascinating. Compulsory fancy hats and dress coats, no cleavage or thigh...it certainly restricts wardrobe options (no Versace for VB!) but the guests got creative. Maybe some better than others.

Gisele is Back: Numero Tokyo May '11

Yippee! A few weeks ago I whined about Gisele presenting too many "Earth Mother" works. She almost immediately proved me wrong! Be it mod, boho or bombshell, she nailed all her looks in Numero Tokyo's May '11 issue.
Gigi, je t'adore!

Girl Power: Karim Performs Look at Me Now

I do not love rap, but watching Amy Heidemann perform this hip hop tune and incorporating her great singing voice made me love this. She is like Katy Perry gone "gangsta"...

Anthropologie Fifties-Inspired SS11 Swimwear

Anthropologie's SS11 Swimwear Lookbook takes inspiration from the fifties, an era that I adore.
I've been increasingly drawn to swimwear that gives unfortunate tan lines...but all worth it to look like this!

Breaking News: Balmain and Christophe Decarnin Part Ways

Christophe Decarnin, who had been Balmain's artistic director for five years, is parting ways with the brand. He joined in 2005 from Paco Rabanne and instantly brought Balmain back to the international fashion spotlight with his rock-chic collections, bringing back the heavy shoulders and skinny leather trousers.

You will be missed Monsieur Decarnin. Eager to know what your next move is.

Cate Blanchett x Romance Was Born for Harper's Bazaar Australia May 2011

I was in awe with Cate Blanchett's Harper's Bazaar May 2011 editorial, not only because it was beautifully shot by Will Davidson, but because the clothes were sublime.

The wardrobe turns out to be exclusively by Romance Was Born , a Sydney label by designer duo Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales. They really have Cate to thank for giving them international stardom overnight through this Bazaar exclusive. I see this editorial everywhere and in major fashion blogs. Cate is even quoted saying how much she adores this brand. She will be collaborating with Romance Was Born on costume design for an upcoming production by her theatre company Sydney Theatre Company.

I visited the website to see the FW11 collection, but alas this website is in dire need of a face lift.
You can see the full collection on The Vine, and you can shop Romance Was Born here.
